Race On!

Bird's eye view from my office

It's here! The F1 weekend is finally arrived. The track was beautiful, I must say. Very professionally laid out and the lights on the grid were so well-lit for the first-ever night race. Kudos to the effort of the foreign workers who worked tirelessly day and night. I know coz I work in the area. And speaking about the area, was the Marina area abuzz with tourists, F1 activities, and people from all walks of life or what!

And so, this afternoon saw everyone in the office skive (eh, that's what we do best! shhhh!) , eagerly anticipating the 3pm Aston Martin race cars on the track. As we get to see about 70% of the race track from the office, everyone in the office was excited, it was purely entertaining and what made it even better was the sound of the engine rev which could be heard all the way up my 39th floor office behind so-called sound proof glass windows!

My boys (yes including you, manly Vee!) are currently there and I highly look forward to when they come home, to fill me in with details from being there live. Can't wait! Can't wait!

SALDI (ahhhh...contentment indeed!)

Been feeling lousy of late. With emotions running wild, coupled with work stress and all.

When I received the Jay Gee and FJ Benjamin sale invite via mail, I knew that retail therapy was the best medication to beat the blues.

I love love love the area where my office is presently located. Sad to say, we'll be moving soon :(((( sigh... Anyway, today's first stop was the members only sale preview at the Suntec Convention Center. Did a headstart with shopping for the upcoming yuletide season. Was feeling over the moon that I settled on a pair of perfect slingbacks for Christmas. Been looking out for it for the longest time. Picked up soooo many items for some el cheapo bucks that i couldn't stop beaming walking back to the office after bargain shopping :))))

Remember I was supposed to get me some decent stash of lingerie? Woo-la-la, did I get my fill or what! The FJ Benjamin sale had rows upon rows of inner wear one could ever imagine. It took me a good hour and a half at that section alone. I was serious when I meant I needed a lingerie overhaul ;) The timing couldn't be more perfect. Woo-Hoo!

Mood : OH-SO-HAPPY :)

Open Fly

As Z is away and so cant give me a lift to the office. Coupled with the fact that the Marina Square area is closed to traffic in preprations for F1, I had no choice but to take the crowded, not very pleasantly scented train in the mornings and then walk via citylink to get to work the entire week.

So there I was in the train, plugged into my ipod, not giving two hoots about anyone when I sensed something amiss. Brushed it aside coz my fave tune came on. This cute dude and an old ah pek seated next to him infront of where I stood were both giving me like awkard stares, my crotch was somewhat at their eye level though quite a distance apart. Still feeling something amiss at this moment but I was too busy grooving to the music in my mind.

Then the east-bound train reached Bukit Merah and that's when it goes underground so I could clearly see my reflection on the glass panel in front of me.

Oh horror of horrors!! Yes, you've guessed it, the zip of my pants came undone!!! That very instant, I sooo wished that the ground would split into two and swallow me up! Yes, that's how embarrassed I was.

I wanna call him coz I MISS HIMMMMMM

Hubs left for Hong Kong early this morning :(((((((((((((((((
Its certainly been awhile since he last left for a business trip.

Chloe woke up this morning and her first words were, "Where's Papa?" Though Z told her about his early morning trip yesterday, which made her bawl non-stop by the way, I think inside her, she wishes that her papa was just pulling her leg. Both father and daughter hugged and kissed each other non-stop before bedtime last night.

Though he'd be back by midweek Wednesday, it'd not be until the final race is over that I'd get to see him, what with F1 hitting our shores this weekend.

ps. Was thinking of a title for this entry when Ethan yelled from across the hall, " Mummy is papa in Hong Kong already? I wanna call him coz I MISS HIMMMMM!"

I know sweetie, I miss him too.

Aarrrgghh!

Feeling confused and in a daze.

I wanna SCREAM.

Trying to deal with my emotions but I don't know if I'm coming or going.

breaking it down

And so we were heading home after the kids' mandarin classes earlier tonite, all four of us in the car, really tired especially me....(what a day in the stock market! but that topic alone deserves another blog entry!)
Everyone was quiet when suddenly our older one went, "Yo! Break it down y'all! Check it out! That's a Nissan GTR!"
Hubs and me were like, "Wh...what? Break it what?? Now where did he learn that from?"

Love Is All Around....

The last couple of days, to put it simply, hubs had chest pains on and off and that got me really worried. Given the long history of cardiovascular illness that runs in his side of the family, I was worried sick. But of course, I had to act like the cool wife that I am sooo not. The GFs don't call me panic alarm for nought.

When he first told me about the throbbing pain last Thursday, I took it lightly and told him that it could be the many late nights that he was keeping recently. But on saturday night, as we were hugging and chatting in bed, I suddenly felt really vulnerable and in a moment of that vulnerability, blurted out to him...."DON'T YOU EVER EVER LEAVE ME!" (as in die on me!) Though we were lying down, he was taken aback but just the same stroked my head and gave me assurance, lotsa lotsa assurance....which was what I really needed at that moment. He just knows when to say the right words which really made me feel so special and I know so for a fact that I am the luckiest woman in the world.

Wont bore with the itsy bitsy mushy details but it sure as hell reaffirmed our love for each other and why we are here together today.

:) you complete me babe.

Creepy Crawlies

You know how some people just gives you the creeps? They scrutinize you and follow your every move? The way you walk, talk and dress even? They are like stalkers except that I am no celebrity, erm maybe I am, to them at least. They have this green jealousy troll that's growing in them bigger by the day. They are so jealous of me. I really don't know why they are like that...perhaps maybe because they look up to me and thus don't really know how to express their emotions. I really cannot comprehend....and I guess I never will.

West Side Calling?

West Side Story 1
So the GFs insist that we go to Kanye's concert this coming Friday. I am torn. Torn because I don't quite dig the man (though I must admit some of his songs are quite catchy). On the other end, its the GFs company, that I'd be missing out on!

There's just something about his face. Pardon me you fans of Mr West. He has this cocky/arrogant/think-his-God's-gift-to-women look that just so so turns me off!!

West Side Story 2
The last couple of weeks saw hubs and me looking at houses all over the island. Our current nest is getting a bit too small for our growing kids. Hubs has been living in the West all thoroughout his life. Central part of the island is where I was born and grew up in, but moved to the West eversince hubs (boyfriend then) and me hooked up. I surprised myself then coz I adjusted very quickly when we got our flat. Perhaps because the hub's family stays in the same block and they were extremely welcoming and helpful towards me. On the other hand, since I do alot of cooking at home, the fishmongers, vegetable sellers and hawkers at the market I frequent love, and I mean really love to see me. No joke about that. Even hubs notices that I get special treatment. Perhaps coz I speak their lingo. Anyways, what is in our minds is this...TO REMAIN IN THE WEST OR NOT TO?

West Side Story 3
Don't you just luurrve the muscial? I know I did, still do in fact :)
Remember watching it countless times on video whilst having lunch at home after school. Alternated WSS with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Grease 1. Hey, those were the days when Kids Central was non-existent okay!

cup runneth over...

no more...sadly. Strange as it seems but them boobies are smaller these days. Gotta go shopping this weekend (yay! it's been awhile and i'm getting withdrawal symptoms already!)

First thing on my must buy list is to get me some, at least 10 bras and matching combos of boy legs, thongs and bikini cuts. Yes, its lingerie overhaul week. So, Marks and Spencer, Blush, La Senza and Chalone here I come :) Also cant wait for the girlfriends' bulk online order from Victoria Secrets ;)))))

And believe you me, swear to God and my dear husband (who will be jumping for joy, i bet!), once I come home with my new stash, each and everyone of you - yes, comfy-almost-made-it-to-the-granny-list as well as the brassieres that have supported me in good times as well as in bad will be disposed off, FOR GOOD!

and so she departed...

Z's 1st and 2nd maternal grandmothers. Look at how happy they were!

She could not hold on anymore and lost the battle.
She was a nice old lady who was always smiling and a great cook she was, too.
She welcomed me with open arms into the family.
SHE was the hub's grandma. Step-grandma (maternal) to be exact coz maternal grandmother was the second wife. But no. 1 and no. 2 got along so well, you wont believe it.

Maybe coz life was so simple back then.

tick tock ...tick tock...

As I write this, two family members from the hubs' side of the family are seriously ill, fighting for their lives and in intensive care in different hospitals. To put it bluntly, they are waiting for time. Time to be called by the Lord.
It really got me thinking, life is short. Really too short. Often we just say the phrase, but when you sit down and think of it, it's so strange how a drastic turn of event can affect a person or situation. There's no simpler or easier way to put it, a true case of HERE TODAY, GONE TOMORROW.

DIGRESS

Hubs and me made a pact since we started dating that never ever should anyone of us go to bed angry or upset with the other just in case we are robbed of a chance to kiss and make up. But frankly speaking, IMO, dying in one's sleep, (of coz going to bed without being angry at the other half) is the best way to go.

RSAF Open House 2008

Sunday saw us at the open house of the last day of the RSAF air show. We got there just in time for the air display which was amazing by the way! Cousin Tanny's boyfriend, Alex got us tickets for the aircraft ride. That was the highlight for the family. The sudden change of weather from good to bad held us back by an hour by the much anticipated aircraft ride. The highlight for me? Well, which girl can resist a man in uniform? ;) keep reminding myself - see no evil, hear no evil and TOUCH no evil!!!!
